Phoneline-based DSL connections remain the most popular by far. Almost three-quarters (73%) of Irish broadband subscribers are connected over DSL and this platform has been the key one for broadband.

This is followed by fixed wireless connections (14%) and by cable (11%). Under 2% of the total use other platforms such as satellite and fibre optic connections.

Because of its dominant share, DSL has been the engine for the overall subscriber growth shown in the chart.
