Online banking is finally taking off. More than half a million people said that they had banked online in 2006, a year-on-year increase of 38%.

That means that two out of every five people who said they used the Web in the previous three months conducted some form of online banking transactions.

Among businesses, adoption levels are particularly high. A total of 82% of businesses employing more than ten people used online banking facilities in 2006, an increase of 78% on the previous year.
