Another dose of reality for Ireland on eGovernment.

Capgemini’s analysis of online availability of public services shows a similar pattern to Accenture’s global study.

Ireland’s relative performance against other economies is slipping.

The research plotted how many of the 20 basic public services are fully available online. Ireland’s score at 50% was eight percentage points off the EU15 average. By comparison, the UK came second to Sweden with a score of 71%.

“Stagnated” is the word Capgemini uses to summarise the Irish performance. Not one that Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, whose department drives the information society agenda, will be comfortable with.
